Apple, Amazon, and Google are rolling out a new tool called Bookmarklet, which will let users find bookmarked articles in Apple’s App Store, Google’s Google Books, Amazon’s Kindle, and other bookmarks.
If you’re using the bookmarklet, you can search for the article you want to bookmark by adding it to the search field, tapping the bookmark icon, and then selecting it from the list of available search terms.
(To use Bookmarklets with multiple bookmarks, you need to add the article to multiple bookmarked lists, though.)
The bookmarks feature works with articles published on any of the above publishers’ platforms, so the tool can be used to find any articles published in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Brazil, the US Virgin Islands, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, France, Russia, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany and Switzerland.
You’ll need a compatible iOS device with a web browser to use it, which you can find at the bottom of this article.
Bookmark lets you quickly access bookmarks and articles on your device and across your various devices, but the search feature is not yet available on Android, and it requires you to have a third-party app installed on your phone to make this feature work.
The tool will be available in the App Store starting today.
The tool also has some limitations, including not being compatible with third-parties like Google Books and Google Drive, which means that if you’re not looking for a specific article on the App store, you’re going to need to go to a specific website and type the article’s URL into the search box.
Other limitations include that it will only work with articles you have access to on your iOS device, not those you don’t, and that it can’t access bookmarked posts that you dont have access in your iOS account.
(If you have a Google account, you wont be able to search for articles in the Google Books app.)
There are also a few limitations with the bookmarklets: if you type in the URL of a specific post, the bookmark will only find the post you typed in.
You can only search for posts from Google Books that you’ve read on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or PC, and you can only get a list of bookmarks from Google Pages.
The search function in Bookmark will be unavailable if you have an iOS device running iOS 8.3 or later.
It’s unclear how the app will be updated to work with later versions of iOS.
The Bookmark tool will also only work on iPhone 6s, iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, and iPhone 4s.
Google Books is one of the best places to find books on the web, and this is a good way to make your Apple, Kindle, Amazon or Barnes & Noble app more useful.
