Peter David, author of the Dune novels and a screenwriter on Netflix’s The Keep, says he re-wrote the Dunes’ original books for Netflix’s upcoming “Dune: The Return” series.
David wrote the book as part of a larger project to explore how technology and the modern world have reshaped the world.
The book is currently available for pre-order on Amazon.com.
“I rewrote the book for Netflix,” David told CNN.
“The book was done as part a larger endeavor, a larger reworking of the story.
The first time I read it, I was in a room full of people, and I had a very clear vision of what I wanted the story to be about.
So, I wrote it as a re-creation of that vision.”
“The Return” stars Clive Owen, who plays Duke Nukem, a warlord who returns from a decades-long exile.
In the book, Nukems wife and the king of Nukeum (played by John Boyega) have two sons, Duke and King.
Duke is also a writer and his son is a doctor.
“Duke’s a man of action,” David said of the king, played by Boyega.
“He’s the ultimate action hero, he’s the kind of person who can take on a million different things and still keep his head above water.”
“Dude, I’m gonna go out there and kill him,” Duke says of Nadem.
“Oh, I want to kill you too.”
The book, which was first published in 2000, was a prequel to the original trilogy.
The “DUNE” films are set in the fictional world of Dune.
In this retelling, the original Dune books are revisited, and new characters are introduced.
The series, which takes place on a massive scale, includes many of the same characters as the original films.
Dune: Return has been renewed for a second season.
Dunes original novel is also available for purchase on Amazon Prime.
